First of all, not sure where to post, so you know...

A friend of mine has this old book that he'd asked me to help find information about, and I thought I'd ask you if any of you had ideas where to look.

The book is called Fairyland Stories in Rhyme For The Little Ones, and the publisher is Hurst and Company. The copyright page is missing and he just wants to know where to find information on the copyright, how much it may be worth, and so forth. Where do you think would be a good place to start?

Thanks.

There's a copy of "Fairy Land Stories for the Little Ones," which may be the same book, published by Hurst and Company of New York sold here for $18:

http://www.myerscollectibles.com/store/category/bhmg/Picture_Books_Pre_1920.html

The listing says "ca. 1900," which suggests there never was a dated copyright page in this edition.

The $18 price was for a copy with the interior in great condition and the cover a little worn.

I hope this helps.

The image on the cover is similar, but not the same. He thinks it may be from the late 1800's, but with no copyright it's hard knowing. It may well be from the early 1900's. I did find another one on the internet, but that cover was different also, and going for $35.

It's not going to be worth more than 25.00 if he sells it, honestly, unless it has an interesting provenance.

I don't think he wants to actually sell it, he just wants to know more about it. He told me it's in rather rough shape, though I haven't seen any of the pages inside, only a photo of the cover. We live far from each other, so I can't see for myself how bad of shape it is unless he sends me more pictures. Thanks for the help.
