I have a pretty successful photoblog: http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/ where I completed two full 365 photo projects, and had a lot of fans/followers.
I'm creating a photobook on Blurb.com to sell.
But some of my photos are depictions of song lyrics or movie scenes. Some of them are my favorites and I wanted to be able to include those in the book.

When I googled about it, I came across this thread here: http://absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8231
and read through the whole thing last night. It was pretty eye opening.

My question is - do the same issues apply to me?
Many of my photos only include short snippets (1 or 2 lines) from songs as a caption to the photo. Though the final picture for my 2nd year included an entire song and it was all represented in one photo.

Do I still need to figure out how to contact these record companies or whoever (I honestly haven't a clue) for permission to use the snippets in the book?
I was originally planning on footnoting and then having everything attributed to the original writers/sources/etc in the back of the book - but now I am not so sure.

Here are the ones I'm concerned about:
Springsteen's "Backstreets" http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/2010/09/29/day-60-2/
Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/2011/05/16/day-289-2/
B52's "Love Shack" http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/2009/02/07/day-252/
Zeppelin's "Ramble On" http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/2008/11/01/day-154-ramble-on/
Pink Floyd's "Outside The Wall" http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/2011/07/31/day-365-outside-the-wall/
Monty Python: http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/2008/12/06/day-189/
"Say Anything" http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/2011/05/08/day-281-2/
007 logo: http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/2011/03/28/day-240-2/
"So Long & Thanks for all the fish" http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/2009/05/31/day-365/

I'd appreciate any input, ideas, and help, with anything!
Thanks!

IANAL, but I believe in regards to quoting lyrics that does apply. It seems rather zero-tolerance.

I think you could probably get away with information text like...

"This photo was inspired by Song/Movie/Book X" rather than going to the point of direct quotes.
