Does anyone have any info on the status of GUD Magazine? The web site's been down for weeks and there's little info on their FB or Twitter accounts that I can see.

Hoping all is ultimately expected to be well!

GUD's server experienced a massive failure while Kaolin (the ed-in-chief and webguru) was out of the country on holiday. Data were lost. Kaolin's in the process of restoring the server, which hosts around 40 websites. He wants to retrieve as much data as he possibly can before doing the restoration of GUD's site--which, as you can imagine, has tons of data, not least the copyedits for forthcoming Issue #7. It would be much harder for him to integrate recovered data once the site is back up than it is to get as much as possible back before restoration.

In short: not dead yet.

Might want to drop duotrope a line; they are threatening to declare you dead.
Good luck with the re-building.

Thanks, skaempfer. I've given Kaolin a heads-up.

This is very good news; I was beginning to think it was time to send flowers. Please let kaolin and/or Julia know that I'll be happy to resend my story with the edits Julia and I agreed on if I just have an address to send it to.

Much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure other contributors would be happy to do likewise.

We appreciate all the concern and the good wishes for the magazine :). I'm sure Kaolin will have the site back up soon as he's sure he can't retrieve any more data.

They should strongly consider at least putting up a placeholder page letting people know what's happening. The current state of things, absent the information here, is woefully unflattering.

My understanding is that Kaolin doesn't want to do anything that might compromise his ability to retrieve data.
