Writing has been a hobby for quite some time, I'm particularly fond of world building, and recently I decided to make an organized effort to write my first complete novel. For years I'd get a project to a certain point then I'd see something shiny and become distracted. I'm not really looking to get published and to be honest the traditional publishing process doesn't really interest me. I like writing as a way of telling a story I want to read instead of a business plan or retirement nest egg.

I've been lurking for some time trying to find an online home to talk about writing and in the end this feels like the perfect place.

So...hi!

Hi there, and welcome to the Cooler. Just like you, I only write for a hobby - because I like telling stories. My main job is teaching and I just love that. I plan to go on until my pension, and then I can spend more time at writing. Writing a bestseller would be a bonus, but I'm already glad people buy my books and read them.

Hi CC, I have 3 or 4 works sitting at 50,000 words or more that I've never finished too. I always get distracted by the next whiz-bang idea. I really need to make a concerted effort, so you're not alone.
