I am working on writing the synopsis for my next historical novel. After reading tons of websites about formating, I'm a little confused. Some say double space, others single space, and some say to single space then double space between each paragraph.

Anyone have a sample of how a synopsis should look? What's the right format?

Single-space, with double-spacing between paragraphs, is standard business mail format. For one or two pages, just about everyone I know uses the single-space, with double-spacing between paragraphs format.

But no one is going to shoot you, either way. So far, all teh agents I've worked with, and my own agent, asks for single-spaced. Byut I don't think it really matters.

For me, teh single-spacing, with double-spacing between paragraphs, looks more professional, more businesslike.

Everyone I talk to says to single-space the synopsis and cover letter (plus a query if you send one first.) Here's a link to where I posted a synopsis of our March '06 release. It's not how a lot of people do a synopsis, but it sold the book, which was plenty for us! :D

Hope it helps!
