Hi all

I'm new here and wanted to poke my head in the door and say g'day.

Firstly, yes Aussie. So expect colours, honours and mums :).

Secondly I'm just starting to dip my toe in the water that is the literary world. I'm sure it's all very nice ..... 'once you're in' but currently it's looking like muddy creek where you can't see the bottom for the mud and those logs could very well be crocs.

I've written hundreds on pages, in my mind, but very little has moved from upstairs through my fingers out to the keyboard. One thing I have picked up from the newbie forums already is to get off my backside and actually start putting words on the screen. Apparently stories don't write themselves much like buying a treadmill doesn't actually mean you will get fit (I hear you need to use these treadmills to benefit from them; I would but then I'd have nowhere to dry my laundry).

Enough rambling from me for the time being. Thanks for reading my brief intro and I look forward to gaining some much needed knowledge about the field of writing from your collective brains.

Cheers
Val

Howdy, and welcome. I hadn't heard that about treadmills. Do you really have to use them?? Interesting. The literary world is indeed swarming with crocks at times but mostly the water is great once your in. Its not so hard once you take the first step and move in just beware, its hard to get out once your in. ;)

Greetings and welcome to the watercooler :welcome:

Take a wander around the various forums, there's lots to see and lots to learn, and even some fun threads too. Come along and pop on over to the Newbie Pub (at the top of the Newbie forum) and say hi, there's plenty of friendly faces that you can chat with and lots of banter. There's also the Question of the Day threads at the top of the Newbie forum where you can answer random questions.

Don't forget to read the newbie guide, and if you want to know what all the buttons mean check out this thread.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.
