I have googled and found lovely interesting sites and every time I think I have the divisions and which police station covered the area I needed my understanding dissolves into an undone jigsaw puzzle. the only solid pieces are those for Bow Street.

For a murder in Bloomsbury in 1880, would the inspector come from Holborn station or another one? If it's another one, does any know which one?

Is there a map of which stations covered which area in this time period 1880-90?
Is there a list of the dates the different stations were established?

Thank you.

I, too, wish I could help. If you were just 70 years earlier . . .

I can only suggest the standard sources. You might try the H-net archives here till you find somebody who researches in this subject and then track them down off-forum to see if they can point you to the right resources.

Just the standard suspects. British History Online. Here. Old Bailey Online Here. I've never used the Met Police Service records here. but they might have bibliographies somewhere.

Parliamentary papers maybe? Like here. Is Wilkes no help? He's here.

Other than that . . . I'd say to keep plugging away at google books to see if the search will lead you to the information you need. Here. Here. Here, Here, and the like

A less standard source might be the Pitt mysteries of Anne Perry, which take place in the 1880s and feature a policeman (been a while since I read them, but from what I remember there's a fair amount of inter-station politics). Very well-researched--you might check around to see if one of them includes Bloomsbury.
