How long do partials usually take to get read? I mean vague averages obviously, because I know there are tremendous ranges.

It's just that query average response times are posted often, but partial/submissions hmmm... less so.

I'm not holding my breath, just curious.

Well, I passed the hour point. But hey! I'm 1/3 of the way to 3 months!

Thanks :) Maybe I'll get some fast readers.

Hey AmyAshely....I've been waiting a month and a half now on my partial request and that's on an agent that usually gets back to people pretty quickly, especially on rejections, so I don't know what's going on. The waiting is brutal but I've kept myself busy by sending out queries to other agents. I'm on my third query revision already because I've gotten a few rejections, which is par for the course. Keep sending them queries out. Here's wishing you the best on the partial and your query submissions. It's an arduous journey for sure...Reikigirl

I haven't started querying yet. When I do, I plan to keep a spreadsheet (or use something like AgentQuery) that lets me track things like when I sent a query/partial/full and what the agent's response time is for that specific thing IF the agent provides it.

If the agent provides that info, and I don't hear by the end of the range, I'll send a polite e-mail to request status. However, if the agent doesn't provide a range, I'm not going to follow up at all. I'm going to just let it go. :) I think that will keep me from going insane.

Please, do not do this. If you hear nothing, assume they didn't get it rather than assuming they rejected you. Email gets sent to spam folders/eaten by the ether. Mail gets misplaced/lost/shredded. Overworked assistants miss stuff. Accidents happen all the time.

The agent I eventually signed with didn't respond to my first e-query. I followed up with a snail mail query two months later, which turned into a full request then an offer within two weeks. If I'd assumed "no repsonse means no", I wouldn't be signed with the kick-ass agent I have now.

Follow up on "no replies". Re-query - it can't hurt. The worst thing that can happen is more white noise, or an actual rejection. The best that can happen is an offer. (Very cute puppy in your avatar btw :))

Congrats on the full Amy!

Thanks to all. Full was rejected. :(

BUT, Kristoff, I am VERY glad that you hopped on, because I am nearing the end of Matt Bialer's wait time with no response. I am currently doing a revision based on some feedback. Once it's done I will absolutely requery him. That was very, VERY useful, he's an awesome agent!

Welcome :)

FYI, Matt might be taking a little longer than usual atm due to a personal matter, but yes, I'd definitely resend. Good luck!
