I just got back in school this semester, and decided to tackle Film as one of my humanity classes. Some of the history isn't the most exciting thing in the world, but regardless, this has been one of the most interesting and eye opening classes I've ever taken.

Those of you like me, who probably screenwrite as a hobby and have no time, desire, or resources to pursue it full time, I'd reccomend simply taking a film class, or maybe just buying your local community college's film text book and looking it over.

It'll add another dimension to your understanding of screenwriting, even though it doesn't directly deal with the script generation process.

Ahhhh. I remember those film school days, watching En Chien Andelou (sp), Citizen Kane and Nanook of the North. I still shed a tear when I think of writing that 20 page report on Dada films and its importance today.

Good experiences to learn where we came from in order to see where we are going.

Yea I've always wanted to watch Citizen Kane but never got a chance to watch it. We're watching it in class later in the semester, so I'm lookin forward to it.

We're still in the silent black and white era at the moment. It's amazing how much you can learn about movies just by watching them silent.

If you're like a lot of younger movie lovers, you may not realize what's so amazing about Citizen Kane when you see it--it was the first movie to do so many things that are commonplace in movies now that it's astonishing for that alone. I'm sure your instructor will have lots to say about it.
