Where do you read and post book reviews? Amazon? Goodreads? Facebook? Your blog?

After reading or before buying a book I usually read all, or at least a lot of the reviews on Amazon and some on Goodreads. Now I feel like writing my own reviews.

But it feels wrong to write reviews on Amazon, because it is a commercial company. Why would I support them without getting paid? And who knows when they will go bankrupt.

And Goodreads, I find the reviews there to be of worse quality than those on Amazon, so I'm not sure if it is the place for me.

Where do you recommend me to post my reviews?

Another question. I'm thinking about posting them under my real name. Is that a bad idea? Should I use an alias?

Depends. Most of the time I post on my blog. Very rarely, I'll post on Amazon. I'll rate, but not always review, on Goodreads.

I'm a bit lazy about my reviews, to be honest. :)

Sharing your thoughts and insight into other peoples' work can strike up dialogue with strangers. Take a look at all the communities on Goodreads, Amazon, LibraryThing, etc. You might earn some new fans, turn people on to books they might otherwise never have picked up, that sort of thing. It's just another way of making friends--and helping spread word of mouth about other peoples' work.

I think that's what it's called. Also just recalled Shelfari.

There's probably more out there, but Goodreads and Shelfari I think are the "big name" sites.

I always rate my books on amazon, but that's because i like to get new recommendations based on what i like and don't like. that benefits both their system and myself.
