Probably the most thorough article you'll find on the new 360 Slim, code-named Valhalla.

I had a Jasper awhile back and had to sell it, and have since been aching to get another one. Used it for games as well as connecting to my laptop for movie watching. The timing is fantastic, as I was planning on getting another one pretty soon. The question I've been going back and forth on is this, do I:

1.) Get the new 360 with it's $299 price tag because it takes less power, has wi-fi, is quieter (one of my big beefs with the other versions), sexier and smaller?

or

2.) Get one of the Jasper versions, which are now reduced by $50 and would run me about $150-$200?

Decisions, decisions. Anyway, I'm also curious - anyone else planning on getting one? Anyone else lucky enough to get to see/use one yet?

If you need the big hdd and wi-fi than they already justify the higher price tag. Also, the redesigned chipset and power consumption is supposed to greatly reduce chances of 3 Rings of Death, even more so than the Jasper.

Yeah, I never, ever had a problem with the Jasper over-heating or red-ringing, thankfully, but it was always something that worried me.

My main attraction to the Valhalla is its quietness and less power consumption, and the reduction to a single fan. And it's terribly pretty. ;)

That's if you can get one before they discontinue it (the older versions, such as jasper, I mean).

Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on the new 360 slim. Even though they're not prone to the RROD, if there's a hardware problem, it's going to give you a red dot.
