Okay, so I'm sending out a story to Asimovs, and to make sure I get the formatting right, I'm following Vonda McIntyre's guide to the letter. My question is, on Page 2 of her manuscript she ditches the header that she had on the first page and switches to a McIntyrre/X Page number format.
Every time I try to duplicate that in Word, my header on the first page gets overwritten with the header (Harris/X Page number) that I'm trying to put on subsequent pages.
Now, I know that it may not bother anyone but me, and I know that it's probably not going to get my story rejected outright (no, the cheesey dialogue and shoddy characterization will do that), but now that I've discovered that I don't know HOW to do it, I really want to figure it out.
