This is a question about whether this is possible to happen in high school. I want the school to have a charity event in the gym. A carnival, where the kids set up booths for different activities. I know I did that in middle school, but not in high school. My story takes place in high school, though. So do high schools do that? And if they do, what activities are appropriate for teenagers?

Thanks so much! :).

I could totally see that happening, though I'm not sure I specifically remember it from my high school.

I think a dunk tank, preferably preloaded with principal, is requisite. :D

We did that in college. No joke. We had a bouncy house inside the dining hall and everything. Balloon animals. Cotton candy. Little booths where you won tickets and cashed them in for plastic junk at the end of the night.

So...yeah, I think it would work.

Yeah, that didn't happen at my school, but it seems like something that would have. Go for it!

grab a copy of 'she's the man' and watch the carnival scene. It will give you some booth ideas, but here is what they had (that I can remember)

- kissing booth
- psychic
rides/bouncy castle
- cotton candy and other foods

I remember in primary school we had one stall where you could have your nails painted - that'd be a nice easy one to add in there...

I think it sounds totally plausable, anyway

"Do you like cheese?" "My favorites gouda!" There are seriously some classics in there - ut I think part of it is totally Amanda Bynes voices...

Our school wouldn't have had the insurance to cover that sort of thing.

We had a few student-activity fundraisers like that, so I think you could definitely do a charity one. Just be aware that it does take an initial investment (renting the dunk tanks and other equipment, the extra power when the school isn't on, the janitors, etc) so what you do needs to match the school's general state of affluence.

GREAT movie!!!! Love, love, love it, especially as a female soccer player! :p Love at the carnival when she is "being a girl for five seconds" and smacks him straight across the face. LOL. That just cracks me up every time - I think its her facial expressions, hahaha

Do they really do kissing booths in real life? I heard somewhere if features a lot in movies/fiction but doesn't actually happen...?

But carnivals are fun - yes, go ahead and do it! I would totally read your book just for those scenes :D ;)

I vaguely recall something like that when I was at school. So, yes.
