Thank you, poets and readers - what an excellent contest we have had.

First, I'd better clear up the matter of prizes. There are six prizes. The first place winner will get two choose TWO prizes from the list. Second through fourth places will choose ONE prize, in that order. The fifth-place winner will receive the remaining, and still fabulous, prize.

-----

Now then, the results. Prizewinners, please review the prize list as soon as you can and send me your preferences, along with a shipping address (for the cash prize, I'll find out what the donor needs to send the prize).

First place: Wallflower, by Nikki

Second place: The Last May, by ajc

Third place: Sweat, by aadams73

Fourth place: Springtime in Normandy, by dclary

Fifth place: The New Nest, by Steppe

Sixth place: Spring Haibun, by CDSinex

NEWS FLASH: Steppe, being the upstanding fellow he is, has refused his prize, which will now be awarded to the sixth-place winner, CDSinex.

-----

Poets' names have been added by the poem titles in the Entries thread.

Wow, seriously??? Holy cow! :D

Congratulations, Nikki! Fantastic work! And congrats to my fellow place-mates, too! Excellent stuff.

Spectacular poems from all our poets. As ajc said, voting wasn't easy. I didn't even vote for myself because there were more than three I liked better than my own. I didn't want to hog up a place on my list. :D

And Rob, thank you for all your hard work organizing this. I really had a lot of fun. I'm not normally a poet, so this was fairly new territory for me. Thanks for letting me join in. :)

Me too! I felt the same about all the other poems.

Yes, thank you Rob. I should have said thanks before. As the kids say, "My bad."

I'm not normally a poet, so this was fairly new territory for me. Thanks for letting me join in. Impressive!

:)

Congratulations to all of the winners. They are all great poems!

Wallflowers was one of my picks, but that said, it was really hard to whittle the entries down to three.

As for the rest of us? There’s always next time. :D

Congrats to all. I've learned much from my first contest and had a great deal of fun. Can't wait for the next one. I hope we have Summer, Fall and Winter contests as well.

FWIW...my top three votes were for the top 3 poems. I guess that makes me a winner. (-;

My vote:

* First - #5 - Sweat
* Second - #8 - Wallflower
* Third - #9 - The Last May

Oh, wow! I'm floored. Thank you so much, Rob, for hosting the contest, and to anyone who enjoyed my poem. I loved so many of the poems this time, it was extremely hard to choose. Good work, everyone who entered!
Congratulations to ajc, aadams, steppe and dclary... and the yet-to-be announced winner.

MANY CONGRATS, Nikki, and all the other winners!!! The entries were all so good that I, for one, had difficulty choosing just three.

Well I didn't so much refuse as I felt the younger types would have more need of rewards. I'd have done the same had I won first. I'm honored to have placed at all in the competition and am looking forward to the next time.

Perhaps we could give folk a longer time to compose their poems, like maybe one month or at least a few weeks. Might help to get more interest.
