I'm looking for some sort of deity/supernatural figure whose domain lies in darkness/shadow/night. It'd be nice if they weren't seen as a strictly evil being.

Don't really care about which religion/mythology they're from.

Only one I can think of off the top of my head is Amatsu-Mikaboshi.

Hades maybe, although he's more about death than darkness.

Only stuff I can find on Hoth is that he killed Baldur, nothing about him being a patron of darkness.

TYVM all, just a few questions:

Nyarlathotep; more chaos than night/darkness I think, but my knowledge of Cthulhu mythos is limited, and it still gives me an idea.
Urmya; I got that it means Night, but does it refer to a particular creature?
Binay-sih; How does he relate to night?

Does anyone know of an angel or demon that personifies/represents night/darkness. Either would work great for what I have in mind. But if not, oh well.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but a certain type of demon does come out at night, besides vampires. The creatures I'm talking about is the incubus and succubus (female form of the incubus).

What kind of creature are you exactly wanting? I can't think of any angel that represents night/darkness. What about Apep? Yami? Yami means darkness in Japanese. I do believe was also a god.

Tezzie's my faaaaavorite! :D

Anyway, I've taken a few classes on South- and Meso-American deities in the past and I was under the impression that he was not considered ambiguously evil. He was more of a straight-forward evil dude, IIRC. Of course, that is if you're talking about Black Tez instead of Red or Blue Tez. White Tez is actually Quetzalcoatl (I did have to look that spelling up :tongue), his twin.

Not much about darkness or night here.. He did create the world with his sibblings.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyarlathotep
Unlike the other Outer Gods, causing madness is more important and enjoyable than death and destruction to Nyarlathotep. It is suggested by some that he will destroy the human race and possibly the earth as well.
Descriptions mentioned: black-skinned avatar of the devil, faceless god, nocturnal tentacled, bat-winged monster

Urmya = indian for night. Nothing else on google.. You could create a demon with this name?

http://www.search.com/reference/Cree
The first born was Binay-sih, the thunderbird who protects the animals from the sea serpent, Genay-big. Thunderbirds shout out their unhappiness or anger with black clouds, rain and fire flashes in the sky.
Not much more about him/her on my first glance.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summanus
In Roman mythology, Summanus (Latin: Summānus) was the god of nocturnal thunder, as opposed to Jupiter, the god of diurnal (daylight) thunder. His precise nature was unknown.

Apparently FORMER god of night, now of love.

http://www.gods-heros-myth.com/godpages/hodur.html
Hodur was the blind and somewhat slow god of winter, darkness, and the night.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith
female night being/demon

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%B3tt
In Norse mythology, Nótt (Old Norse "night"[1]) is night personified.

This one seems suited best.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erebus
In Greek mythology, Erebus (pronounced /ˈɛrəbəs/), also Erebos or Erebes (Ancient Greek: Ἔρεβος, "deep darkness or shadow"), was the son of a primordial god, Chaos, and represented the personification of darkness and shadow, which filled in all the corners and crannies of the world. Erebus is often thought of as part of the underworld.

And sooo much more can be found here:

Hope it helps,
regards

Somewhere over there.
If you're interested, here's some more to look up:

Po –Land of darkness ruled by Tanaoa (darkness and thunder) and Mutuhei (darkness and silence).
Apep – Serpent devil of mist, darkness, night, chaos, and storms.
Fomorian – gods/demons of darkness and chaos.
Hecate – goddess of the underworld, night, darkness, ghosts, birth, life, death, gates.
Itzcoliuhqui – god of darkness, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, disasters, cold, dryness.
Lono – God of thunder, rain, darkness, fertility, agriculture, and singing.
Meztli – Goddess of the moon, darkness, fertility.
Ratri – Benevolent goddess of starry nights, darkness, and passion. Protects from danger.
Sakarabru – God of darkness, medicine, justice, and retribution.

No info on those three you mention, though.
