Just got a Marvel Digital comics sub...

So I've been reading Journey Into Mystery and the original Thor comics, like from the 1960's.

They are hilarious. Not as in they're in a comedic format, but they just make me laugh.

They actually have to talk out their fights, to themselves, it's so funny. I know why they did it, but it still makes me chuckle.

And their speech patterns, especially the gods can just blow the mind. Like the phrase, "...he is a tortured soul by a soul in tormet." Makes my head try to do an owl impression...

The melodrama is thicker than syrup, and reading it is like swallowing the stuff raw. And it's not just a function of Thor, melodrama is just the order of the day in 1960 I guess...

And the blatant prejudice against communism is so bad... The way the 'reformed' communists do monologues on how they're evil people is so horrendous it's funny.

Then there's the abrupt mood swings, Odin hates this girl(Jane) for like, the entire first 40-50 comics, then out of nowhere, he just goes, "Yeah, you should go be with my son right now...seriously, go."

My jaw is killing me, smiling for long periods while sucking on lemon drops is painful for some reason.

No kidding.
Thor was the be-all, end-all power character in those days, probably because he was such an insular character in the beginning. He was just so OP.
Once they expanded him into the Marvel universe more, they somehow tuned down his power, very subtly.
But now he's got Odinsforce and the Rune King powers in him, now he's just a freaking killer. Like, we'd need a Celestial to come down to humble him. I don't know how in the world Norman is gonna take him down in Siege. (Don't tell me, I haven't read it yet. Waiting for it to finish up before I start.)
