Yeah, it all goes back to when somebody falls, and everybody laughs. But today people are more sophisticated, so humor needs to be more drastic; something like, "I got my finger cut off at work today, and my employer took an hour off my paycheck because I took the time to go to the hospital. That's right, he said, more fingers, more hours off!" Of course, that was just an example off the top of my head. My fingers are fine. Well, they don't work, but they are intact. Hey, I'll take what I can. Anyway, yeah, comedy is more dramatic today. I have been watching some standup comedy, very interesting people. I always wanted to meet a standup comic. Seems like some comics are a good potential patients for a psychiatrist, but they can't afford one. And of course, nobody wants to listen to you complain. So here is the trick. You take your complaining, turn it into jokes, and people listen. Aha! Brilliant!
Yep, the more screwed up your life is, the funnier you are, it seems. Although sometimes, you are so screwed up that you can't even express it in words. Mike Tyson, for example, no words. No, just no words. He puts a tattoo on his face. So much pain, wow! Michael Jackson changed his entire face. Well, I will not go into that. So, I always wondered... what if I would do standup. My, of course, would be more like sitdown comedy. Well, and my speech is somewhat messed up. See, that could be a problem. There would have to be a screen behind me, displaying everything I say, for people to understand. The advertising for my shows would have to say, "those that dropped out in 8th grade or don't have 20/20 vision, do not purchase". I would lose a lot of the audience right there. Those that would come, would have to read. And with the all the liquor going around, who wants to do that? Ever seen a drunk person look at his bill, after a whole night of boozing in a bar? He takes it, trying to stretch it, straining his tired eyes, looking at all the freaky characters. Drinks... taxes... tip... what? After which, he just takes out his credit card... here... whatever... charge it. Yeah, so there would go the rest of my audience. My last resort would be to scream out an occasional "s**t", "f**k" (like most comedians do anyway), to keep the people entertained. Actually, that might be funny. And then, I will become a highly paid monkey, to entertain the masses, just like the rest of the Hollywood. My dream would finally come true, to sell my dignity for money! Yes!
