Hello all!

I call myself a new "kid" but that's a bit of a stretch; my kids are all grown up! In a nutshell, I'm a guy who's been told all his life that he "shoulda been a writer" but never had the confidence to really pursue writing more or less seriously. I've since written some comedy and dark/horror/scary (with just a touch of poetry) and it's been fairly well received by those who have reviewed it.

I must admit, browsing through some of the other newbie posts by some of the others who have nothing but tales of woe is a bit disconcerting to say the least!

How about some words of encouragement? (Before I lapse into another 30-year writing "lull")!

Welcome to the Cooler.

You want words of encouragement? How about: Now you've found AW your writing won't suck as much as it did before. Or as much as some of my work...

How about "I sucked before I joined AW, but now I have people telling me my writing is really good?"

They do.

Anyway, welcome to AW. Get busy, you have a lot of catching up to do :D

Hello there Indelibleink (great name by the way) and welcome. I'm new on AW as well, and I am really enjoying this site. It is packed with information and helpful tips. I still haven't navigated my way through the whole site but seem to find something new and interesting every day. I just love it. Just concentrate on your writing. It's a hard road in some ways but what isn't in life. We will all get there in the end with some hard work, some challenges and hopefully a lot of fun.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. Good luck.

This is an official pep talk. Keep it with you at all times.

The moving finger writes and having writ. . .

Wait. That's not it.

You can do this!

Okay, that's it.

Press on, perservere, publish! U Da Man! Write stuff!

I get a little carried away sometimes, but you get the idea.

Welcome.

Hey Bro,
Get writing. Now's the time to start. Write everyday. Sometimes you will be the ONLY one who believes in your work, but forge forward. Never surrender. Write, rewrite, rewrite, submit!
Best,
greg

I must say that all of the encouraging words have been, um, encouraging. I'm inspired to write, and then, write some more. Who knows...could become habit-forming.
Thank you all for the warm welcome and pep-talk. I guess I should meander about here and see what else goes on...Any recommendations?
