Yesterday, my screen gave up the ghost. The on/off switch was flashing, but nothing but a black screen. My son talked me through a test where I plugged the screen into my laptop and used Fn and F8 keys. This proved that the screen was at fault and not the graphics card.
Anyway, I ordered a new screen from Dell this morning, and then, for want of something better to do, I plugged the faulty screen in and tried a reboot of my desktop and guess what? It's working again!
Tried very hard to CANCEL my order with Dell. I'm not sure if I succeeded.
So what was that all about? Should I expect more problems with this screen in the future? Maybe I have a loose connection in there somewhere? Picking it up and taking it into another room overnight seemed to sort the problem.
