All the manuscript formats keep asking for different page and first page type things, but so far I have not found out how to do this at all, in my paragraph section in word, and theres no little blue book in the view section, where the header and footer is. Can someone help me?trying to set up my manuscript under this publishers guide lines, which is different than others.

I have microsoft works launcher and word processor. Its about to drive me up the wall. This publishers format isn't really into headers and footers they are are more about different first page, and odd and even pages has different things on them. So far I havent found anything remotely near that under any heading on word. I have been through each one of them. When you hit insert page, all it does is enter the page. like 2 or 4 whatever. No little blue book under view either.

MSWorks is a VERY watered down version of Word. The "Headers and Footers" in the View menu is only going to allow you to insert items from a short list of special character commands. If you're looking to insert a string of text, such as your name or book title, you won't be able to. Only MSWord has that capability.

Have you looked into OpenOffice as a substitute for Works? It's a free downloadable software program and has most of the capabilities of MSWord (with the ability to save it as a .doc file.)

You can download it at: OpenOffice
