Hello all.
I have jumped into Absolute Write thus far with no introduction here. But enough procrastination. This is who I am:
I spent most of my career (>20 years) as an auto writer with many newspapers and magazines named "Auto" something or other. Several years ago I earned an MBA and then started an auto related business. In short, I am an ink stained gearhead.
Every newsman should write at least one novel. And that is where I am. In my career as an auto writer, I rarely wrote anything more than 1,000 words. I was master of what we, at one publication, called the "3:15." Fifteen minutes to conduct a phone interview or two, 15 minutes to write the piece and 15 minutes for editing. 500 words.
A novel, I have found is a completely different animal. It's been six years since I started tinkering with the 80,000 word beast, but in the last several months, I have been feverishly trying to finish. I believe that I am close. We will see.
Should my project be published, will I consider myself a novelist? I don't think so. In fact, I may never write or read another book again!
However, I have tremendous admiration for anybody who has attempted to write a novel and even more admiration for those who have finished and published a work. It seems that describes the constituents of Absolute Write and so I look forward to chatting with you folks here.
