I don't play here often cause I am writing a Historical Romance..., whatever that means LOL

But I have hit a problem in a section in my WIP which I should be able to answer myself, but for the life of me, I am stuck. Hence let all romance writers adn readers unite :D

Although for this excersie it is probably not important, my story spans the years from 1814 to about 1826 and possibly into the early 1830s. It starts off in England and although it appears to be going to end in England, the majority of the story is set in Australia, well at least possbily more than half.

My English MC meets the true male MC and real love, an Australian in the first page of the book, but she goes on to marry an English man, before we get back to this Australian fellow.

That said, there is a scene after the first scene where she again comes across this Australian fellow just before she is due to marry the English man, and although for my story to work she must marry that English man, I have a scene where she has her first kiss, and although written that it is the English man, I can't help but think, that possibly it should be with the other fellow before she marries.

My main delima is, that she must marry this English man, and there has to be a turn of events that warrents her marring this English fellow, to justify wiping the deep feelings she has for a stranger away.

I probably haven't been clear, but she loves the English man, knows this fellow, and it won't be until eight years until she runs into the other fellow, well knows it is that Australian man

Okay, sweets, so if I understand you, she DOES love the English man she ends up marrying, right?

:D I'd have her first kiss be to the Australian. I just would. A bit of tension there to add to the story. After all, one CAN lust after another man while being totally in love with someone else but it doesn't mean she has to act on it.

And the kiss is BEFORE she gets married so it can certainly make for an interesting encounter when she meets up with Australian sexy man again. ;)

LOL - yes, this is exactly what I thought, but I wasn't clear because I got disconected and lost a lot of words - to be true to the story, she grows to love this English fellow.

BUT I feel I really wonder about -

Do I allow her to kiss the man of her desire, this Australian man, the one both her and readers would expect her to kiss at this moment, and his kiss make her think evil things hell won't allow you in for?

Or do I have the English man kiss her, and suprise both the reader and her with the passion, and the depraved feelings, he makes her feel?

okay so, now, the english man makes her feel depraved? hehehe...hmmm....what if she's hot for them both?

I mean that would really make it complicated. Give them both amazing character traits that makes it hard for her to forget either one of them.

Ok, she is obviously hot for them both or I wouldn’t be posting here, but anyways.

Here is second scene with Australian man..

Here is kissing scene that takes place very shortly after the above scene, currently written to be the English man, but well.

Well, hmmm. I noticed in the first thread you have listed here, a bit of a jealousy plot possibly. She could actually choose to allow the kiss of the Australian because Richard is coming to close for her liking to another woman's lips. I think you could use both scenes actually.

Could Englishman, knowing she has kissed another, trump up charges and have his rival sent to Australia as a convict? She doesn't know he is innocent until 8 years later when he turns up again.

Mmmm, I did consider her kissing them both that night, but kissing only one man must prevale, but it is the issue of the second scene that bothers me...both scenes will stay but who she kisses in that second scene bother's me.

-The man readers are expecting to set alight her heart?

-Or the fellow readers never thought capable of setting her heart alight?

LOL possibly, but Jeremy is Australian borne and the next 8 years already determined, but you have most certainly given a very good plot outline for another story :D

My problem has come about because I originally set the story 8 years ahead of this bit of the story, but felt compelled to go backwards for some maddening reason and give my MC a backbone and some history...lolol

All great stuff.
