I've read comics since I was a kid, but creating one is a whole different story. I've already started penciling mine and I'm almost done with the first episode.

I would like to do the inking and coloring myself. What time of ink would I need? And is it better to paint or marker the drawings? I think I would prefer marker, but you tell me. Also, what would you suggest for that?

And one last question (I know there are a lot!), I plan on submitting the finished project to agents, but I was wondering if I need to finish the whole story (which would be really long) or just a comic book chapter at a time to be released as a probable mini-series?

Thanks for reading!

If this is your first comic, then take your time. Don't say "what type of ink do I need", go out and make comics using 5 different inks. Try brushes, try nibs, try inking pens. Color a comic in marker, color another comic in watercolors, color another digitally. It's not a matter of "what specific thing do I need," it's "what works best," and you'll only figure that out with a lot of time and experimentation.

Most agents do not represent comics that are serialized a chapter at a time. They work with book publishers, and so they want something in book form. The typical pitch is for a graphic novel, with a completely written script and a sample chapter of finished art.

I wouldn't even know where to begin to ink on the computer. Don't you need a special program?

You'll want a Wacom tablet.
You'll most likely need Photoshop (or GIMP, or something with the same capabilities) in order to make submission-worthy pages anyways, whether you color/ink digitally or not.
