Unfortunately she's dead. But I suppose her relatives and costars could potentially benefit if you bought a Maude box set. Is there such a creature?
What I mean by this, because I've been questioned on it -- and it's not a snarky statement at all -- is that were you to find Maude on Netflix, or Hulu, on Nick at Night or TVLand, or any of the traditional broadcast forms, the agreements the people who worked on these shows would still be in place, and their hard work would continue to be rewarded.
As creators of intellectual property ourselves, being writers, would we be happy to know that our published works were available on the internet in a format where anyone could read them without any financial compensation?
I'm not talking about something you put up to get exposure, or something you want people to see for free.
What if ChaosTitan's new book were suddenly available on the web to read? That would affect her sales. That would affect her livelihood.
Now, Maude's been out for a very long time, so I hear the people willing to accept theft in the name of convenience trying to pull out their "oh, but it's so old, Arthur (and everyone else who gets residuals)'s family made enough money from this show. They don't mind.
It's still theft.
So, I'm sorry some folks have issues with me, or the particular moral stands I take. But I'm not sorry for having them, or for discussing them on the boards. If I seem snarky all the time that's just because I eat too many lemons and am a sour, bitter old man. ^_^
