Do you hear a particular person's voice narrating your work as you write it (or re-read it?)

I am curious, because today I realized that I very distinctly hear the queen of audiobooks, Gabrielle DeCuir in my head as I write. It was almost scary to recognize this. I do love her voice, though, and the cadence of her reading. I kind of realized that as I edit and revise, I cut anything that I can't imagine her reading out loud.

Weird, huh?

So how about you? Who reads your fiction?

This has never occurred to me before.

But I will say I would be one day very pleased if Alan Rickman were to ever narrate my audiobook.

He's probably not even the same style, but I. don't. care.

Honestly? Me. :)

I don't think I've ever heard another voice. Kinda jealous now. ;)

I don't hear a particular voice. It depends on what I am working on. Different narrator for different stories.

katiemac - Alan Rickman - a voice to conjure up all sorts ...

Orange County, CA. Dude.
Whoever's PoV the section is written in, most of the time. Same when I read other people's books. I imagine the characters with different voices reading their own parts out loud.

Does anyone else do this or am I just insane?

Not unless I'm crazy too. :tongue

Huh. That's interesting. I didn't even know that I do that.

I do that - each character has their own voice! Lest be insane together!

Nakhlasmoke - Stephen Fry has a wonderful voice! The sort that makes me think he is reading just to me!

This goes for my MSs and other peoples' works too, it's always in the character whose POV I'm reading.

I never listen to audiobooks and I never 'hear' as I write, but Stephen Fry should be made King of the Whole Damn Farkin' Universe without delay.

That is all.

I would like Jean Reno to narrate my works, if they were ever nade into audio books, the only trouble is I'd slide off my chair in delerium. :D

Richard Burton would have done nicely too, I love his voice, but even though he still does the voice for Jeff Wayne's War of the words, I don't think I'm going to get a voice from the grave, am I... well, not unless he comes back as a zombie. :tongue

That is such a good question! It's never crossed my mind before, but now I think about it...

Usually, the voice I hear matches the style of the writing - like, if it's a comedy, it'll be a sarcastic dude, and if it's a fantasy prologue, it'll be a gruff old man. That probably sounds really crazy, but at least there are others out there who do the same. :)

3rd person, well, it's usually me.

1st it can be different, depending. My most recent story I heard a Texas man with a honey-deep voice tell me, listen to this on account I got a story to tell.

So I did.
