There will be two more Hawkins brothers stories coming down the pipe.

Oh, congratulations. How wonderful.
In uncertain times, it's nice to have a contract in hand.

What a great way to start the weekend. Congratulations!

Susan, do you negotiate directly with H or do you have an agent? The reason I ask is because of conflicting info I've read that suggests the H contracts are mostly non-negotiable therefore one doesn't need an agent. I've also read that having an agent moves an author up the waiting chain.

Again, congrats.

w00t! That's super, Susan, congratulations! My mom and I were just talking about books, she's been a loyal Harlequin reader for years, and I found out you're on her "list" (she keeps a list in her purse of Harlequin writers to watch for, because she likes their books--she's done it since Janet Dailey's and Nora Roberts' Harlequin novels.) It made me grin really big to get to tell her you hang out at AW sometimes.

I don't have an agent. I do already have "my" standard contract, which has a few things I negotiated. But things like money, etc. that's pretty much set.

Nothing new changing on this new contracts from my last one. Same advance. Same everything else. And I will go over them, clause by clause, against the old one to make sure they haven't changed anything else. (That sometimes happens. It's CRITICAL to check your new contract against the old one to make sure nothing slipped through the cracks.)

As to getting you through the wait times faster...maybe. But I'm not 100% sure that happens. At least, not all the time.

On the plus side, I get to keep 100% of my money, not 85%. :)

Oh, Mac, that is SOOOOO COOL! Tell your mom I said THANKS! I'm always thrilled to know someone likes my books -- and even better, likes them enough to put me on a LIST!

Way cool! :)

In boiling heat, need I say more?
Congratulations Susan! I love Harlequin and hope to be a writer for them one day so it is always encouraging to hear this kind of news. Now go out and celebrate, you deserve it! :hooray:
