Can anyone give me a list or names of agents that aren't in the AAR and are reliable? Ugh... this agent search is exhausting.

Why would you possibly want an agent who isn't in the AAR?

If it was easy, we'd all have agents. Try www.writersmarket.com or www.publishersmarketplace.com. Both of these are subscription services. You can't search by AAR membership, but their listings usually mention it.

But I'm with James. Why?

Oh... there's no reason why I don't want someone who is a member in AAR. But I want to throw my net as far as I possibly can to get my novel represented and as of right now I have had a lot of "It sounds like a good idea... but not for me..." type responses.

Yeah, haven't we all. I'll bet they wished you well with your writing career, too. :) Keep on plugging!

This is much better than responses that say, "I love it, I'll represent you" from bad agents.

You don't want to throw your net over bad agents. Go with an AAR agent. If you can get one of those, it's probably time to write something else and start over.
