Hi there,
This is my first time posting so I am sorry if there is already a thread for this but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what might be the average word count for humor fiction. I am writing a non fiction humor book and I honestly can't see it going over 30,000 words as it will be a series of short stories. Is this something that I should scrap or is there hope for publishing something that small?
Thanks,
Christie

Word count doesn't really matter for any genre. If it's good it's good. People might be asking for more if it's too short but if it's good enough no one will complain that it's too long.

I think the best thing to do is research the markets when it comes time to submit. Every publisher is different. If you know where you are submitting to, read their guidelines. Quite often you will find that they include word count parameters.

And...WELCOME TO AW!

A lot of my favourite novels are between 60 and 70k - about 200 pages in paperback. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, Less than Zero....
