Hmm, apparently they're in the film/TV script business but that's all the info I've been able to get - anyone else have any?

I found them to be a little suspicious when their site linked to writing guides costing over $600(!) yet checked out their submissions page anyway; they don't have any options for non-American-based writers to complete the form but this doesn't mean much.

Anyhow, what's known of them? Thanks in advance.

Just some additional info:

The VP Bruce Bartlett keeps a blog: http://bartlettsscreenwritingtips.blogspot.com/

The guidelines for their readers are here:
http://www.showbizjobs.com/dsp_currentjob.cfm?jobid=18786

The main agent (Rima Greer) repped Australia's own Paul Mecurio back in 2002. This was after his film career stalled and he was literally digging ditches to feed his family.

He went from that to having a nice little career as a TV presenter ... so she must be pretty good!

Good luck,

Mac

Thanks, it's always nice to know a company's legit (just a pity that I can't fill out their application form).

Mr. Bartlett's blog hasn't been updated since '10, and -- going by his twitter feed -- his current interest is real estate investment. Ms. Greer is still active on the conference circuit, but I'm not finding any recent sales news for her. Anyone else hear anything?

So they do their submissions through a survey through surveymonkey. Is this company still legit? They don't have much information on their website and I'm a little leary of people who don't want to share more information. Is it still a good idea to fill out their application? Has anyone recently?

This reply is two years late, but if anyone's curious, Above the Line Agency is still a signatory of the WGAw (Writers Guild of America West) as of 2015. That's a pretty good indicator that they're legit. Whether they're still doing a good job is another matter.
