David Wolverton (Farland), who many receive a "Daily Kick in the Pants" from, send us a bit of positive research in a time of recession:

In the past quarter, we saw that videogame sales were up 18% and movie box office sales were up by about 30% over the holiday season. Yesterday we learned that Harlequin Romance had a 15% climb in sales in the last quarter over the previous year. Here's to hoping that that trend is the same for other genres!

I'm kind of surprised at the rise in movie attendence, especially since the price of tickets is quickly becoming insanely expensive (here in Dayton, it's up to $10.25 for a movie; around $8 for a matinee). I don't go to movies now unless it's something I'm really dying to see.

But it's a nice little ray of light in this otherwise constant media hounding of doom and gloom.

Nice to hear.

I've heard that demand for entertainment goes up during rough times, so let's hope that proves true for those of us trying to break into the literary community.
