Okay, so I started the new year off by going through my 2009 CWIM. I found three independent houses whose descriptive lists seemed to resemble a couple of projects I'm looking to pursue. A subsequent visit to B&N suggested that these publishers did indeed handle books similar to my own. I got all excited and drove home to put my material together. Yet before doing so, I checked the publishers' websites, only to see that all three had closed their doors to submissions and queries.
I wonder if the economy has anything to do with it or, hopefully, the houses are simply trying to tackle their backlog from 2008. Anyone else see opportunities dwindling?
