I've got a completed short story and I'd like to find a place to submit it to.
It's a little more than 6K and is about a girl who's fiancee is kidnapped so she sets off to rescue her. Any suggestions as to what to do for this?

I get the plot, but what's the genre?

Try ralan.com or duotrope.com for a start...then check out the various magazines that sound like options for specific guidelines.

Check Duotrope and find magazines that publish the same style of story as the one you've written. Then read through some stories to find where yours fits in the best. Read the guidelines then submit.
