In my PB, the MC learns about a festival in her native country India. Now, in reality, this festival is still celebrated in India and is something known to very few people outside our country. Though my story explains EVERYTHING about the festival, there is no way an editor can understand it without looking at a few images. And I can't add instructions - it'd run for pages.

In this case, what should I include in my cover letter - a page of 5-6 real photographs (or prints of .jpeg images) about the festival or a link/URL browsing which the editor can learn about the festival?

Radhika,

You're sending this hard copy, so I'd slip in a color photocopy of some clear shots (not bulky/costly), with a brief para in your cover letter as to why. And I'd include the URL in case the editor wished to examine further.

If the photos are meant to be included in the published story, you send them. If not, you don't.
