How do I go about writng under a pseudoym? Do I send my manuscript in under my name or the pseudoym? Help!

Danthia

For further down the road, you'll have to fill out some copyright forms (your agent will have these) and legal stuff. The agent would need to know all that before they started submitting.

In the header page of the novel do I put my real name or the pseudonym?
Stormie--The page you spoke of is that a page to it's self and where does it go, after the tittle page? Or is it the tittle page? Thank you very much for your advice.

The cover page (title page) is where the real name and address, etc, go in the upper left. Upper right--approx. word count.
Then go to the middle of the page, center, and put "Story Title by Pseudonym" Without the quotes, of course, and centered. Your novel begins on the next page, page one.

In the header do I put my pseudonym first or the tittle? Why put the date, it won't be the same on each page

As a variation, I'd write my pseudonym on the title page as:

EPIC FANTASY NOVEL

by

Derek Paterson

writing as

Hunk Handsome

Hunk O'Cheese's way is fine. But I usually just put my real name in the left corner, then use my pseudonym in the byline.

Jo, I think when Kaylee is talking about a "header page" she's meaning the cover page, not the "header" at the top of each subsequent page.

No I meant the top of each page--the header

I put my pseudonym first (left), then title (centre), then page number (right). No date. Other writers may set it up differently. :)

When submitting to agents put your real name on it all.

If you want to use another name discuss this with your agent after you have secured one. They have the expertise to let you know the pros and cons of the pseudonym, and the best one to go with.

Your new agent will probably format the MS for you to include your pseudonym before they submit to publishers. They'll likely include details such as 'Derek Paterson writing under the name of Hank Cheese' within the proposal to publishers.

Don't stress about it. Publishing is a long process and you'll have plenty of time to discuss options with your agent and publisher. Even if you submit direct to a publisher, I suggest to use your real name to begin with.

No you misunderstood--- Kaylee Suzanne is my pseudonym---Arkansas Angel the name of my book. What I was asking at the top of each page how do I put these two I have my pseudonym over the title Arkansas Angel. Do I do it that way or side by side?
Or do I use my real name when I send it in to the Agents?--Next question where do I find a critique to go over my book? That is what I do next to get it ready for an agent?

You need to tell your agent your real name - otherwise you'll get a cheque you can't cash.

I think I see what Kaylee is talking about. Kaylee, you're talking about the Header/Footer text that precedes the page number, yes? In that case, it should be one of the following:

Kaylee Suzanne, ARKANSAS ANGEL, page {number}

or

Kaylee Suzanne ARKANSAS ANGEL page {number}
where "Kaylee Suzanne" is left-justified, "ARKANSAS ANGEL" is centered, and "page {the number thing}" is right-justified

or the same thing, only with Arkansas Angel in italics rather than capitalized,

or any of the above, only with your pseudonymous last name rather than your pseudonymous first and last name.

And on the cover page of your manuscript, it should say,

ARKANSAS ANGEL

by Jane Doe writing as Kaylee Suzanne

and then give your legal name again in the "contact information" block in the lower right.

I guess I should have figured out that Arkansas Angel was not her pen name. D'oh!
