I must confess. I admire all of you who are plugging away and writing the Westerns. Hat's off to you. Keep the themes alive—Life vs. Death and high stakes writing.
I dont. But I'm proud of McCarthy's writings. He's a great addition to the shelves of American Literature. I have been reading The Crossing. I cant wait to move on to Blood Meridian. I think the only way I could ever write a Western is if I immersed myself in that culture and history. Yet I dont have the time or money for that.
For now I'm just trying to write good and credible stories.
Writing Westerns is one of those things I just can't let go of. I've actually tried a couple of times, and didn't start out writing them, but they just keep coming back.
