I believe there are online grammer courses available here on AW. Go to the homepage and you should find them here http://www.absoluteclasses.com/courses.htm

P.S. You should probably get a copy of The Elements of Style, too. Great companion to have around for reference.

I agree with ALG71. Get yourself book like The Elements of Style. Often, you can pick them up for a reasonable price at used-book stores.

Eats, Shoots & Leaves and The Grammar Bible are two other books that I recommend. Also the website http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/ is good. As well as being free and informative, the site has tons of tests you can take.

A long time ago I sent for a writing course from Writers Digest. Part of the course included a section on grammar. It has been a long time and I don’t have any idea about prices.

Eats, Shoots & Leaves is a really fun little book. But it contains not a word of grammar. Not one word. It's ruminations on punctuation -- specifically, British punctuation (which isn't exactly the same as American).

Also, Starla: I'm curious whether you found what you were looking for. If you happen to come back to this thread, would you drop a line to let us know whether you found a good course? Thanks.

I have been looking for good books on grammar, but have a limited choice where I live. I am compiling a wish list for my trip home at Christmas. Any recommendations gratefully received.
