Hi There:

I contacted my agent, mentioned to her what another agent said in her blog about the ideas Hollywood is looking for and suggested my novel (which is currently out on submission) fits that descritpion to a T.

She responded by saying, "Send me a logline and I'll shop it around."

I'm not sure I even know what a logline is.

Is a logline a single line story synopsis, or can it be longer? If it is a single line, it's hard to imagine getting all the nuances into it.

Can anyone offer some help?

Why, I have just the thing...

This fantastic article by our very own Chris Lockhart on his equally fantastic twoadverbs website.

And, of course, there's our very own logline thread which is stickied at the top of the front page. Or click here.

Plenty of good stuff that should give you a starting point.

You can't get nuances in a logline. . .just explain the boiled down concept in one sentence if possible. It can help to practice by making up loglines for existing movies or books. You want to entice the reader of the logline to need to know more (not want, want could easily be a pass). . .

Thanks for the links, 9. They've helped me as well.

No problem. Constructing a good logline is an art all by itself and I know I need as much help as I can get. :)
