Been gone awhile as my old computer got fried - simple lack of maintenance. I didn't bother to blow out the desert dust and the cooling fan gave up the ghost. Luckily had everything backed up - just one problem: bought a new Compac with MS Vista and found it doesn't accept Stuffit compressed files. Ended up losing my entire novel, Follow the Raven. (Anybody know how to restore the files from disk?):flag:
In a way, it was good. Seems none of them were either marketable or I could not figure out how to write a good query letter. In either case, I decided to go over them to see if I could make them more marketable.
I've come uip with some ideas, the first of which deals with my spy novel, Waltzing in the Shadows. My first changes have to do with providing more intensity and I have written two new chapters. One takes place in the GDR Stasi Headquarters and the other deals with a Russian Tank Company in EastGermany. I am posting both in the Sharing section and would appreciate any comments/suggestions.
Hope you will see more of me here.

If you've got your stuff backed up, then unless you actually deleted it from whatever drive you had it on, your files should be okay.

Windows usually has a built-in unzipper that's not very good. I recommend downloading WinZip or WinRar and trying to unzip your file from there -- see what happens.

Welcome back! And I feel your pain. I didn't lose a whole novel, but my computer just crashed and I lost the last 2-3 months of writing work. Which sucks, because it was a productive few months.

You mentioned you have the manuscripts on a disk though, right? you should be able to just open them up from the disk and then resave them onto your computer.
