Yes, what did we miss in Twitterverse? *starts twitching*

I may have to go look even though I'm at work. I took twitter off my phone as it was too distracting. :)

SO CUTE!!!! Also it is really weird to read back through their tweets. I suddenly feel incredibly hyped-up, like I've had a jug of coffee. Too bad I am at work...

I feel like I'm missing something...what is on their Twitter page that everyone is getting so excited about? I see the new mascot, but is there something else?

Nope, you're not missing something. It is the cute fierce plastic dragon mascot.

I received a rejection email from an established agent today with TWO typos. I actually feel more upset by the typos than the actual rejection!

I can understand that completely. A while back, one of my short stories was placed in a competition and I was ecstatic -- until I read the winning story, which was full of typos, bad grammar and totally random punctuation. I never, ever boast about that competition lest someone goes to look!

I have to say I was really surprised and I'm not being bitter, been at this far to long to get bitter :) Well done on the place :)

Talking of short stories (get ready for the unashamed plug) I have a flash fiction one shortlisted at the moment, it can be found here ;) http://mashstories.com/shortlist/what-if/

Well done on the shortlisting. It is real achievement in the flash market. Off to read :)

Annoying! :( And also, hi everyone - been busy so just hadn't been by. I am working hard and am finally about 30k away from the end of my story and am SUPER excited about that. I will definitely be done by the end of the month, just in case heh.

Just out of curiosity, do any of the replies or requests from Hodderscape come from a generic "Hodderscape" account, like the email confirmations, or do they come from specific email addresses?

So just playing the 'what if' game. Do you suppose that Hodderscape have read about 100 of the second reads? We're 5 weeks into the year. Would they have sent out rejections in the last 5 weeks? Or will they wait until they have re-read them all? Or do we think that they are having a break and will get around to it at some point.

Wow! That is brilliant! I have done hardly a thing since sending my chapters in August and really wish I had got down to some proper writing. In my defence it was a hell of a year for me last year and not in a good way. But I need to start developing the sort of writing habits you have clearly got going, and make 2016 a proper writing year for me, I would love to actually finish something!

I am wondering too. I reckon they haven't got through more than 30 or so and are having a break plus having to go slow as they never really expected to have to find so much time maybe.

AND IT BEGINS. Sorry to hear about the rejection, KirsteenAtom!

Also, remember everyone, your shyness is enabled. You can send me a PM if you'd rather not report your response from Hodderscape here in-thread. :)

Thank you -I'm quite philosophical as it's the first novel I've ever written and very raw. The card was very nice it said:

Thank you for sending us.......Driftstream.......
Unfortunately we do not feel that this proposal is suitable for publication on our list. With a very limited number of available places for new writers, we have to ensure that the entire team is one hundred per cent behind every new acquisition and, sadly, that's not the case in this instanec.

Thank you for the opportunity to read your work and best wishes with your endeavours.

It was a printed card with a space to hand write the title of the book, but I was glad to get something physcial in the post. I'm going to frame it as my first rejection :)

i've submitted to angry robot and gollancz and I'm really happy to have got through to a second reading.

Good luck everyone!

Commiserations, but hey - you can come over to the Angry Robot thread and hop on the tracker there if you like.

Not that I'm pinching your posters, JJ... ;)

I'm sorry to hear, kirsteenamom. :( I'm confused, too. They sent a snail mail response to the emailed partial?

I'm sorry to hear that, KirsteenAtom. Well done on making it this far, though. That's a big deal for a first-time writer.

Sorry to hear about the rejection, kirsteenamom. All the best with your other submissions.

if they're sending snail mail, does that mean I have to watch my mailbox too? Oh dear. :tongue
