I guess you never heard back from your story with the plant monster in it? I gave up on the lottery, however sometimes I go play slots, I'd probably make it big there long before I make it big as a writer.

and...thanks Ted, I just buffed and shined my tail this morning. :D

They never announced anything.

Well, that sucks. :/

Yeah, I think writing is my only out, too. But I think your art is excellent and you have talent. And I'd love to see one of your dragons on the side of a building someday.

Aw, thanks Ted. I do believe that I have a better chance at making it in the art world than in the writing world, but I'm not totally giving up on the writing. I have two novels I'm working on, whether they get anywhere or not I have no idea.

You want me to go out and graffiti the village? I can send you some pics of it while I'm in jail. :D

lol! I'm pretty sure there's no churches that want a dragon on the side of their building. The closest thing that I've done to something like that is I painted a storefront window for the biker shop I used to work at, but it was no dragon, it was a Christmas scene. I don't even think I could paint something on the side of a building and have it turn out half decent.

I'd travel quite a far way to see a dragon painted on the side of a building. Because that is awesome.

Hey Hounds!

I just got back from a job interview. Feel like I aced it, but they have to call my references and everything, and I won't hear back this week, but still--feelin' good. :)

The best of luck to you, Rhoda! If you felt good about it, you're bound to get it. *keeping fingers crossed* they're not my fingers I found them under the couch, but it still works, I think.

I been gatherin', uh, eveedeence down t' the Bent Nail. That and, um, sewin' a few t'ings t'gether.

See? I's even startin' t' talks like 'em down there's and none o' them scoundrels been t' church in weeks nor so much as laid a nickel in the cl'ection baskit. I oughts t' lays me a Shoggoth curse down 'ton 'em the lazy varmints...

<clears throat>

Ahem, 'scuse me...

I do find myself in need of some artwork for a cover these days. I need a superhero genre cover, but I have some very specific details I want in it.

In addition, I have a cover needed for the first book in the Fire On The Suns series.

I'll pay a reasonable fee, agreed upon in advance and acceptance, if anyone wants to give it a shot.

Greg, I haven't bugged anybody in that place in a while. Good folks there, too.

You know, I've often thought I'd made a good Lucky Guy on the nose of a fighter or bomber. That would terrify the shit out of the enemy. Hot women? Animals? Nope! Check this out! BAM! There is no mention of psychological warfare in the Geneva Convention, I'm pretty sure.

I've been out in the woods with the psy ops folks, and the played the weird stuff off their iPods really loud. That made sleeping at -20 less fun.

Ted, if your going to be the airplane pin up model you should specify a long nosed aircraft. :D

@Greg: Do you think a Shoggoth curse would work in the Bent Nail Saloon? I haven't been in there myself, but I reckon they have methods for dealing with unsavory invaders.

Oh, and I think the interview went really well! It's for a library clerk position, and the first thing they asked me was to describe the last book I read and why I'd recommend it to others. So, pfft--easy! I do that for fun. As for the rest of it, I feel like it went really, really well. I won't hear back for a while still, but I'm hopeful. :)

I'd need a wide-body, really. That way the whole plane could be utilized for the magnificent nose art of Me.

Well, as I'm the guy what's runs the church down 'round those parts I figgers a shoggoth curse might have some effectiveness.

They gots shootin' irons, but not much else and a shoggoth, well, it tends t' react t' things like bullets, fire, axes, and what-not like it was water off a duck's back.

Suddenly I'm trying to remember the number of "vampire westerns" I've seen in my lifetime. I think there's at least three.

Good to have you back, Ted. In theory, I missed you being around...in reality, I haven't been here so I didn't know that you were gone. But I'm glad you got your internet back just the same. :)

I went to the bent nail once. I met a shiesty looking battery that leaked all over the floor, but that was years ago.

So, my boss summons me into a meeting this morning and it turns out to be a rush Installation Instruction & Troubleshooting Guide. He and I spent about an hour together going over the way this particular thingie works and how the customers have been having problems with it. He needed the instruction and guide on his desk before I left today and I succeeded in providing that.

I get along very well with my boss.

Then this afternoon, my mother chooses the hottest day of the year so far to have me move a buttload of her stuff out of the nursing home for her. I was dripping wet by the time I rolled away from there with the back 2/3rds of my Explorer loaded to the windows with stuff. I think I'll unload it in the morning when it's at least marginally cooler... Where I'm going to put it I have no idea.
