Just finished a quick edit with my editor/partner/bff of all the scenes I wrote in the last month. I was extremely insecure before and now I feel great :)

I also added a scene where my antagonist reads a philosophical book I haven't read in its entirely myself, what I did know of it seemed fitting.. Then after adding that I researched said book and it seems to be literally about my story. I'm quite shocked right now but how well it connects.

Stop browsing AW and get back to work.

But I've finished my work. AW is my reward. :D

I took a few days to work on an outline, then a stepsheet, but it wasn't really coming together so I decided to wait for inspiration -- then I got tired of waiting and wrote anyway. Maybe inspiration will come while I'm typing...

I don't know what the hell it is...

I'm 85 pages in & just starting chapter 10, yet the last book I read hit Chapter nine at page 88. So, I checked a shorter book &, lo and behold, that one was midway through Chapter 8 at the same time! I used to be ahead of it! Bastards...

Either way, I hope my story ends up being decent length by the end. Maybe my chapters are just short? At that rate, my book(s) might be a bit more marketable, that way...

I think I figured out why Chapter Eighteen is kicking my butt. It's more character based than plot based and I suck at characterization. But I think I went in the right direction with it, even though it's going to mess up my plotting to the end of the book. On the bright side, I passed the 60,000 word milestone today, so feeling good about that. :)

Questioning everything. Style. Voice. Story. Character. On all manuscripts and stories and every dumb thing I've ever written.

Feeling kind of stupid about everything.

Urf. Kind of want to crawl away and wait to get smarter so I can eventually do something worth a damn.

...but then, I'm super pissy lately anyway...:D Reevaluations are best done with a brain that has been scraped of the whitened turds encrusted upon it...

It doesn't matter how many chapters are in your book, and it doesn't matter how long they are. Stop counting. :)

Congrats! :hooray:

I don't know how many words I wrote today (my word counts are always so small lately I generally avoid counting) but I finally surpassed what I had before I foolishly cut out over 5k while I was depressed. And to my surprise, the narrative is actually working. I'm going full-on NaNo style -- zero editing allowed -- so maybe that's helping.

ONWARD!

I found a way to meld two characters together and tighten things up a bit. But I'm giving the book (first draft done) more time to incubate before I get back to writing.

I'm excited about a possible upcoming writing project, but nothing's confirmed yet, and won't be for a couple of weeks...but if it all works out, holy hell, I'm gonna cream myself.

Repeating what I just proudly posted on Facebook- 90 pages in and less than 900 words away from the 50,000 word mark!

Woo! Can't wait to really get going! I promised myself I'd have a manuscript done by the end of the year. Six months in & less than 100 pages? I might not make what I'd originally had in mind, but I'll be cutting pretty close and that's alright with me. I plan to have this thing queried & sold as of 2015, no exceptions, damn it!

Got a brutal feedback. It hurt, but helpful!

Ooph, those are always tough - even when I think my skin's toughened up. I'm glad at least you found it helpful.

Felt so excited about my idea for a new book, had two good days, and now I'm completely stuck. Argh. Time to write a bunch of drivel and see if any worthwhile ideas happen to fall out of the pockets.

I spent days writing a query and set it aside. I just went back to it and discovered that somehow it had been overwritten with a link to the carton network. (I love my children!) I pulled the backup off my thumb drive and somehow yes that contained the same link. I have no other copies and can't remember what I wrote. Back to square one.

Was the link perhaps pointing to a cartoon about... squirrels? If so, perhaps the ones in QLH got to it first. :D

Anywho, wrote 1,212 words today. It's been so long since I wrote that much it almost scares me. I always hate this part of recovering from depression because I inevitably realize I'll be back there someday, unable to write at all, and it makes me feel like I'm trying to write a novel while staring at my own grave.

Erm. Sorry for that downer. Uhh... :gone:

I'm pretty good at dumping valuable writing time into the all-important tasks of aimless websurfing & forum-refreshing. And the perverse thing about it: none of this silly-dallying is ever more fun than writing. It isn't even fun. It can be pretty boring, actually.

BUT NO MORE. I'LL START USING MY TIME MORE WISELY. YYYYYEAAHHAAHJHAAJHJAHJHAJHAJHA~~~!~~~!!

72 more than you had this morning, Raindrop. Better than a stick in the eye, right? ;)<-- he should know
Yep! And 208 words more today! Still not a Formula 1, but I had a horrible week at work. Get-me-out-of-there type of horrible. So yessss. 72 is good. 208 is so good, it's like watermelon on a hot day.

Oops!!! The new query will be better.
