FYI Waxman Literary is phasing out their name by end of summer according to Publisher's Weekly Lunch. Scott Waxman and Byrd Leavell are going in on an agency together. Nothing on the website yet. Don't know what this means for those of us who queried recently.

Query Holly Root on June 22nd. Partial request on July 5th. Partial sent on July 6th.

She mentioned that she's behind in reading the query letters sent to her, so if anyone sent them in May/June and hasn't heard back yet than that's probably why.

Howdy folks,

Newly registered, longtime lurker, and all that.

Does anyone have an idea of how long Beth Phelan takes to respond and whether or not she sends rejections?

I'm personally at five weeks. In that she's newish, I haven't found anything yet on her practices.

Thanks in advance, and thanks for all the helpful posts in the past that I've found so useful.

Beth Phelan is not listed on the Waxman Literary website. Is she no longer working there? I saw that in May she was looking for clients because she needed to have a sale in order to be promoted to full agent. Perhaps this didn't work out?

Rachel Vogel has joined the Waxman Leavell Literary Agency as an agent, where she will continue building her list of upmarket and literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, and memoir. She was most recently an agent at Mary Evans Inc.

Queried Scott Waxman on April 15th, and received a request for a partial on the 18th. Trying not to get my hopes up -- but it's hard. This is my first-ever request from an agent

. Does anyone know his average turn-around time for partials? He got to my query pretty quick, which is impressive because it was in the slushiest of the slush piles.

FYI, Holly Root is closing to queries for the summer as of June 1.

Has anyone had any recent contact with Taylor Haggerty at this agency? Received a full and would love more info.

(If anyone is interested, it took her less than a week to get back to me.)

I couldn't find much on her on-line. She has prior experience with the Gersh Agency, whose webpage tells me nothing. Publisher's Marketplace tells me that they make sales to big publishers, though Haggerty has no record of sales.

However, she's recommended by Holly Root and Ms. Root says they are working closely together. Since Ms. Root is doing very well in the selling-books-to-publishers department, I ended up querying Ms. Haggerty. It seems like it might be sort of a mentor relationship or, at the very least, that Ms. Root will be giving advice and help as needed.
