There are 9 accepted stories. I'd say about half have been edited completely, but both myself and the other editor got insanely busy with paid work and I think we both let the ball drop on this one, a bit. We don't have a deadline to finish, but now that we've been prodded, I think it's safe to say that we're both getting back to it. After that, it needs a proofing run, and then I'm dumping it on Lori to make publishing decisions.

Sorry I thought this thread was dead. What are the details for the submissions and how many more do you need?

Perhaps that it's closed for subs should be edited into the first post in the thread?

Done. You people need to poke me, or something; I'm not around here so much, anymore!

The current anthology is closed to submissions, but there may be another in the future. :)

Thanks for replying and the information. Will the anthology be available on Absolute Write?

I have a question which others may have later, or have already had and received the answer. to. (Yes, that's terrible English.)

My second round of edits nears completion. What am I supposed to be doing with the third draft? Send it to whom, at what email address? I have my guesses but await official word.

Maryn, just following orders

I've not had any second edits yet, Maryn. It's good to hear it's moving along.

Interesting to know the answer, though.

Any edits you receive, send them back to whoever sent them to you.

Some of our second round edits will not have needed an author pass. Some may have, or authors may have gotten edits back if they had comments that the editors felt needed addressing (for example, we asked Maryn to re-write a small section, so we needed her approval on changes to that section).

I will be collecting them into a single manuscript, and it will go to one of our volunteer proofers to catch any stupid mistakes that we editors overlooked, or which were added during the transfer (because formatting can be a bitch, yo!) I have no idea who those proofers were, anymore. Sorry! :p

If anyone wants to re-volunteer, please email me (I check my email way more often than I check in here). PolyKathleen at Gmail dot com.

I believe Sue is working hard to finish up some paid work before the last one or two edits go out. After that, I (Kathleen), will be collecting them into a single manuscript, and it will go to one of our volunteer proofers to catch any stupid mistakes that we editors overlooked, or which were added during the transfer (because formatting can be a bitch, yo!) Thanks for letting us know, Wild!

Would it be worth putting up a fresh call for proofers in a seperate thread? Do they need to have any particular style guide in mind, etc?

I will if no one responds here. As for style guide, not really, other than the basics that most houses follow: em-dashes with no spaces before or after, etc. Biggest issues are catching formatting errors and reading carefully for misspellings and missed words and the like, I believe.

I've heard back from Sue, and at this point I think we are mostly waiting on getting drafts back from authors, so ball's in your court, guys! If you have edits, please get them back to us when you can so we can finish this beast!

Are you going to go through a publishing house, or self-pub it?

I think when we're ready to either submit or self-pub, we'll send out an e-mail to everyone involved (and/or post here) and discuss it to make sure we're all on the same page. When we did the original survey, people were open to either route, but the final decision still needs to be made.

It's all coming together, though. :) Thanks everyone for your patience; we're all still figuring out exactly how to do this. :D

Well, I'm for either or, and if the self-pub is necessary, I'll work with whoever I need to in order to design us a kick-ass cover.

It would be great to involve AW cover-artists in on this, if self-pub is the way. :)
