Hammering at the novella tonight. Somebody posted a Stephen King meme on FB that quotes him as saying how when things get rough to keep going and even if you think it's bad it might not be. I like that idea.

Good attitude, Ted. Good luck with your goals and make sure to eat your greens.

Report:

Dream Warriors--revisions going well, still, some more. Also started working on a synopsis, because I think this one could work for the Strange Chemistry open call. Longish-term goal is to have this revision finished and sent to my beta by the end of May; then, to have a third pass finished by the end of June.

1001 Souls--found a title, obviously. Still long-handing, but I've opened a new document and am starting to type.

Yellow Season--still haven't sent it anywhere else yet. Need to get on that.

Raggedy Girl--got a personalized rejection back. Said the voice is great, as is the pacing, but it's missing the "spark" that would make it awesome. I'm getting more personalized rejections now, which is encouraging. Yay!

Good luck with your goals Rhoda.

Personalized rejection are better, at least you know the whys. I like to keep my rejections in a box or is that rejectors?

Report: Well, I kept the pace (and exceeded) on novel revisions, I'm about 2/3 of the way through them. But I cheated on them.

I did actually write in some new stuff, trim, rework etc. But I also did a lot of just noting what would need to change and summarizing the scene that needed to be plunked in. So, I'm going to have to go back and actually DO those things.

Did not write much of anything else. Lots of ideas and note taking on misc. other WIPs, though. And I read a lot in the last week. Got tangled in a couple of novels and a bunch of novellas. Putting gas in my tank. :D

Goals: Get to the end of the novel with at least notes on all the fixes. Next week I'll start following what the notes tell me to do. Hopefully? In three weeks I'll have a nice new shiny draft. :D

I may skip reporting until then. I'm not sure. Unless I have something new and interesting to report. Or I get down and need whippies. :e2bummed:

^^^ That is SO true. It's ridiculous how many times (a day) I have to remind myself of this. I should probably just put it over my workstation....

Good luck with your trims and edits.

I think you could bear a hug.

Augh! Bare teddies..., er, teddy bears! Augh! Too much sweetness and light.

"It burns..., it burns..."

On my behalf, I wrote about 4 thousand words this last week on my Sa'Ryeen Frontier project (a Fire On The Suns supplement) developing one of the least-contested frontiers in the FOTS Universe quite a bit more, bought a new computer (Acer netbook), installed more RAM, and then fought Dragon Naturally Speaking to a deadlock whereupon I uninstalled the beast pending a re-install tomorrow in a quieter environment.

Of course, I probably wrote another 4 thousand words of "non"-fiction for my job (believe me, some of it probably is truly fiction) and renamed about 600 files inside about 300 folders for "consistency". Only 199 folders to go.

:)

And then the Supervisor told me I didn't have to do all that this afternoon, just on an "as they come up" basis.

Wonderful. Now he tells me. Sorry, bud. Too late to stop now.

I...exceeded my goals? :Wha: *double checks that*

I didn't even mean to. I made it to the end of the novel with my notes on the fixes that need to be made, and did most of the revisions already. I still have the last 20 pages to rework and then a few tweaks to the front end to fit with what I change in that final chunk...but yeah, I made a lot of progress.
:e2cry: Never mind. I didn't exceed anything. I found several pages of more notes. I met my goal, but I didn't exceed it. Dammit.

No work on any short stories, though. But that's okay.

One rejection. However, it was kind of an encouraging one. They said they really enjoyed reading it and it made it to their second round of editorial deliberation...

But then they passed on it. *sigh*

Honestly, I was amazed I wasn't booted right away. I realized after submitting that the story wasn't "horror" enough, only dark. Kinda cool to know that at least I was up to snuff prose wise. Next time I have something straight horror that fits the style, I'm sending it!

Goal: Complete the rest of the revisions on the novel. Leaving me with a new draft, ready for another beta (hopefully).

That's too bad. But if they enjoyed it and seriously considered it, yet you can see it wasn't horror enough, then it looks like it's just a matter of finding the right market for it.

Yep. That's the plan. Dark, literary, poetic flash prose. Shouldn't be too hard. :e2thud:

When it's a personalized it's always a good sign, could just mean that it didn't suit what they were looking for at the moment.

But then they passed on it. *sigh*

Good luck with your goal and editing.

I decided to do brides this week for muses.

Yipes! I missed last week, didn't I? Oh well. Here's my latest update:

Report:

I've been focusing mainly on revising my existing WIP for the Strange Chemistry open submission thing. My beta and I have decided on a date I want this draft done by so I can send it to her; I've also been putting a synopsis together. I was rolling quite nicely for a while, but I'm stuck on a fight scene now. There's fire and giant beetle things. It's a fun scene, but the edits I'm doing are very . . . small. Trying to keep track of who's standing where and who's holding what implements to swing and smash. Lot of detail.

So there's that, and a plot bunny I'm trying to ignore (as usual) for something new, but that's about it lately. Oh, and I got my grades back for my Craft of Fiction class, and I made straight A's. Booyah!

Goals:

Get the revision for "Dream Warriors" done up through 30k. Ish.

Only got about 250 words on Porter's Way last week. I know I'm late reporting in, but I've also been working on the FOTS A Blaze Of Glory RPG system (mostly formatting and editing - about 15 pages of 99 thus far).

This working for a living biz is killing me.

:)

Good luck with your goals, sometimes life is hard to bear but we keep on pushing.

I figured this kind of bunny will help your plot bunnies.

Okay, late, yes, I know, but I've had, um, issues lately.

I did, however, get lmost 1500 words done last week on Porter's Way (trying to finish that Haggisfrakker finally).

Progress is progress. Hope things get better for you. Pick your Godzilla, he's good for eating nosy neighbors and creditors.

Pushed Porter's Way and Dark Horizons over 8k words each over the last couple days. Downloaded a couple apps that might help me with the recalcitrant arthritis/gout in my hands when I'm away from Dragon Naturally Speaking on the desktops and laptops.

Got an appointment on Thursday with the assessor and then probably 2-3 nights of "classes" for being a bad boy 3 years ago and then maybe I can pay DPS and get my DL back.

Man, it's been a busy last couple of weeks.

Blech.

That is all.

No, wait, actually, I've been trying to keep going on my revisions, but I'm in the, "Meh, this sucks, I hate everything!" phase now. Also I'm getting distracted by Doctor Who fanfiction. And that's all I'm saying about that.

Oh! But I have an excuse, kinda, because I was out of town last week and met an adorable chihuahua! His name is Rodney. He's extra-cuddly, and he'll be coming to stay with us in a few weeks, along with my brother and his girlfriend. Yay!

I would've taken pictures, but my phone crashed while I was up there and I had to get a new one.

Technology, ain't it grand. Keep plugging away. I'm sure I don't know anything about this doctor, must be a sign.
