Obviously my heart and prayers go out to all of those directly affected by the tornado in Moore. But I'd also like to make a special mention of the first responders, rescue/recovery crews and clean up folks. Although they are trained, no amount of training can prepare them for the heartache they experience as the death toll climbs or as they see that the salvagable remains of 3 or more large 2 story homes will fit in the bed of 1 pickup, with room to spare. Also, they are literally risking their lives as they slowly pick their way through the rubble hoping to find people alive. Please keep them in your prayers today, too.

Having been deep in revisions, I haven't been on AW for too long. AZ Dawn, so grateful you BIL is on the mend.

pkbzrod, you are oh-so-right about the folks in the path of yesterday's storm, Moore and all the surrounding areas. I fear for them still today, with the forecast ripe for more storms. Keep the first-responders high on the list of those needing our prayers and best thoughts.

And for the families and friends of those children who've perished, and those still waiting, my heart is aching for your loss. May you find peace in the knowledge that millions around the world are grieving with you and praying for you, folks on the AW Prayers Needed thread included.

I haven't been here for a while, but I'm really praying for all of you and I hope everyone had a nice memorial-y memorial day.

There has been a lot going on and I feel a little bit bad but I'm asking for prayers for me, my brother, and my mom. My mom was just released from the hospital after she was found passed out nearly dead from alcohol poisoning and she released herself from the free rehabilitation center she was put in and I've just been praying so hard for her to realize she really needs help and it doesn't matter if she doesn't have time, she needs help. I don't want to lose my mom.

My brother was recently diagnosed with PTSD and he just needs prayers that he'll be able to cope and go through the right therapy to make this probably lifelong thing easier to get through.

And then me watching my family go through all this and I'm going through a hard break-up right now and everything is having a pretty negative effect on my mental health. I just want to stay optimistic and strong and all that.

SBT- you must be meant to carry out some very important task for the Lord. This is why the devil is SO intent on derailing you. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord, then you have power. Tell the devil to GET LOST! (Shake your fist if necessary.) Stand up tall, throw out your chest and tell him firmly: Devil, you are defeated! All my strength and righteousness is from Jesus. God is my Father, if you have a problem with me, tell HIM about it!
You have the 'mind of Christ', and Jesus spent much time in prayer with His Father. Prayer is the key. You have the Spirit of God inside you to encourage you and guide you. (If you don't think you have the Spirit, ask God to send Him to you.. He will do it, because Jesus promised us.)

How is everybody doing? I called my mom the night before last night and she was drinking again and she still wasn't sober when I talked to her yesterday, so I'm stressed out, but the stress and worry over her isn't consuming my every thought like it used to. I want to think that's a good thing but I also feel a bit like I'm losing the part of myself that loves my mom so much and places her on the top of my priorities. Anyway, good morning/afternoon/evening.

Hope everyone is having happy happy lives right now.

I could use some prayers. We blew through our savings and got into more debt over some house repairs in less than a week. I don't know how we're going to pay for it all. I feel like I am drowning.

I think your prayers worked!
My husband and I talked about our budget last night and he was very encouraging and not judgemental or resistant to cutting back. Things don't look as bad as I felt the other day. I felt like I needed to find a second job, but now it seems like we'll make it.
