Anyone here have any experience with creating apps? I want ot create one to go with my latest eBook that can be used by artists in their studios.

I used to be up to date on these sorts of things, it's amazing how out of touch one can become in less than a year!

As stated above, we need some more info. Where are people going to use it- tablet, smart phone, Windows, in their internet browser?

How much programming experience do you have and in what languages?

What do you want it to do?

ahhhhhhhhh thank you it was late last night.

It'd be great if it'd work on a PC as well as a tablet or a smart phone but the bulk of my fans/followers use either tablets or smart phones. I'd say it's a 50/50 split between apple and other platforms. Most of my fans are from overseas, europe, australia, new zealand, versus the US probably 65/35

This is a conversion how-to app to go along with my newest Natural Dye book. As I think about it I may have to create two seperate apps, one for doing the amount conversions and another for plant id, color, etc. If I could have all three functions in one app that would be just cherry!

At this point my programming skills are nill (I fall into the category if I don't use it I lose it), I'm an artist by profession, but a quick study and I do have a background in chemistry and applied physics. I do know some html, java, and a few other languages and can pull the books off of the shelves if need be. And I have adobe cloud, one of the programs is for building apps, IIRC.

That sounds like the first one could be done as a Google Apps spread sheet, with downloadable versions done for Excel.

The second one sounds like a Web site based on a database.

The app would be essentially a shell with javascript. The shell would depend on the deployment platform, but you'd query the database on the Web.

This has the virtue of being minimal in terms of actual coding, and you'd update the Web site and all platform would have access to current data.

I'd probably not even bother with the app frankly.
