Why do you write screenplays...

Movies have been a passion of mine since I was a child.

I wrote with pictures running in my head, so it seems a natural progression. :0

I prefer writing screenplays for two reasons. The first is because i think my strength as a writer is my dialogue and i think screenplays rely more heavily on dialogue than other forms of writing such as novels. And secondly, i just love movies. Its my favorite art form and usually if I have any spare time i will choose to watch a film rather than read a book or magazine (although i try to do both and probably because of that i have a pretty big back log of movies/books that I own that i still haven't gotten around to watching/reading)

Just came across this link. I think it's really valuable, for folks who think "If I can just win THIS contest - my career is SET!" - It's a very encouraging interview. But that might be because it mirrors my own path so closely. Enjoy.

I've always loved movies and recently enrolled in the Full Sail MFA program for screenwriters - I love it! It's something I can see myself doing the rest of my life, because I enjoy it that much.

However, I have written other things as well (see link in my signature block) and will most likely aslo continue on that path. As long as I'm telling a story, I'm happy.

For the obvious "I've always loved movies and have been dreaming to work in that business" reason.
I also find the scriptwriting helps me keep the image in my head when both writing and reading it later...
And last, I'm not a big fan of writing long, poetic, descriptions. I find it difficult when reading books as well. While it's great in some books, it's not for me.
