You ever had one of those days where something just seems a little off? Something minor, but still noticeable. Perhaps troublesome?
For instance...
The woman behind the counter at your favorite coffee shop has vivid, bright green eyes today. You've seen her a hundred times before and could have sworn they were brown. Maybe it's nothing, or maybe she's not who you think she is. Maybe you've noticed something you weren't meant to, and a small observation is going to lead to a world of horror.
Or... you spot a new building on the road during your morning commute. It's an odd but innocuous looking little building that seems to have sprang up overnight. Maybe it's nothing. Then again, maybe it's already starting to lure you in, where something unspeakable awaits.
You get the idea. A character sees / hears / observes something subtle that throws their world just a bit off-kilter (perhaps even literally), and that grows into something terrifying, maddening, deadly, or all of the above.
Have at it, horror hounds. And have fun.
