How much time before a nudge for a screenplay

I was looking for some opinions on how long I should wait before I nudge a management company reading a screenplay. I sent a query and they responded back requesting to read the screenplay. In their response, they let me know they were busy right now and it would take a little bit for them to get back to me with a decision on representation. They didn't give a time from though so I am not sure how much to give them before emailing them to check on the status. It's been 5 weeks now and though that's an eternity to me, I am sure it's not long for them.

Any thoughts on how long I should give them are appreciated.

Thanks.

Three months is usual for books, but I'm not sure about screenplays. If this thread doesn't get enough attention I'll move it from Ask The Agent to Screenwriting in a day or so, if you'd like.

I would appreciate that...wasn't sure where the best place to post this would be.

Thanks

When to nudge...

If you haven't heard anything anything back after four months, give 'em a gentle nudge. An e-mail will do. Fact is, if they like your script (i.e., they like your writing), they'll get in touch, but it has to be on their time schedule.

Don't go crazy over this. Waiting on any one agency, management company, or prodco is a sure why to burn yourself out and end up in the loony bin. Keep sending out queries, keep working on scripts, story ideas...
