How would closing up shop and leaving a website operating account for unauthorized shared intellectual property?

If you want the most generous of generous interpretations, it could be that having forgotten about the site, an update on their host fubared their index page and left everything submitted through their online submissions system naked for the world to see. It's appearance on other websites is due to people taking advantage of the situation to harvest all the subbed manuscripts.

However, as Veinglory points out, works still being for sale suggests the publisher is still operating on some level, at least in terms of receiving payments for those works.

Could Shadowfall have become Shadowridge? Their "flagship author" is one of the two Shadowfall authors mentioned in the previous post. One of her books was published by Shadowridge in Oct. 2012; the other in March 2013. Her Shadowfall book was published in January 2012, but the book's description is exactly like this book published in 2010 by Quake but with a different title. She's very prolific, for she also had several e-books (self?)-published for Kindle in 2012.

Shadowfall's other author won a Bram Stoker award for this 2008 Darkheart Press book, but the same book was published by Shadowfall in 2010.

Curiouser & curiouser.

Those who have been negatively affected by Shadowfall, who may now be Shadowridge, should write them and ask questions, as I have done.

BTW, Dark Hart went under in 2009 or 10, I believe, which explains the reprint. If they were still around, a warning would be given about them here>>>

Shadowfall is not Shadowridge

As Robert Barr of Shadowridge stated, they are in NO WAY affiliated with Shadowfall. His is a new quality Indie press that up till now has published only my titles; however, The Proteus Cure, a collaboration between F. Paul Wilson and me, is slated for a 5-1-13 release. See here. http://www.amazon.com/The-Proteus-Cure-Paul-Wilson/dp/0615795870/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1366828860&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=the+proteus+cure

I can clarify about the titles though. Lisa Manetti, originally with Dark Hart, left them and went with Shadowfall for her reprint. She recommended them to me. Shadowfall published my book, The Soul Collector. Shadowfall told me shortly after that he was getting out of the business and I could have my rights back. I did not get any advance, and did my own marketing as agreed.
So I switched to the newly formed Shadowridge (in dark fiction you will probably see a lot of Shadows in names). I do have my rights back to Soul Collector officially in writing, but have not yet republished that title through Shadowridge because I haven’t been able to get Shadowfall to take the book down from Amazon. Shadowfall rarely returns emails. He promised to remove the title but has not.
If Shadowfall is advertising they are back in business I would steer clear for all the reasons listed in previous posts.
To sum up: ShadowRIDGE- good, ShadowFALL-bad.

Quoted for the sake of those who, like me, found the font painful to read on-screen

Looks like their listing has been removed from Duotrope. And I see here that someone (anonymously) posts that the press is defunct.

Folks, please try to see that the concensus, via all of our posts, is that Shadowfall is no more. Let's archive this and cut our losses. I was able to write the Russian porn site and have them remove what Shadowfuck allowed them to have without my permission.

Oh, and I'm not anywhere near a "New Fish."
